October seems to have disappeared rather quickly.

It’s been another busy month for the Live Productions team, but rather than give you a long list of what we’ve been doing, I thought I’d share one useful resource and one honest reflection.

Getting more from an LED wall

A large LED wall can completely change the look of an event, but only if the content is designed for the screen.

They are becoming more and more common now, our LED is in and out of the warehouse on a regular basis and inbetween times we are using the LED in venues that hotels have been investing heaviily in. So it’s worth learning how to make content that makes good use of them.

I’ve written a short guide covering pixel maps, screen layouts and a few simple decisions that will help you make better use of the full display.

Not everything goes to plan

We hold ourselves to a very high standard, but occasionally things don’t go quite to plan.

We have had a number of challenging situations this month, both on site and at HQ. Nothing catestrophic don’t worry, but when we expect a lot from ourselves, it doesnt take much to feel the disapointment of mistakes.

I wrote a post on LinkedIn about this, with the slightly cliche quote of “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger”

The quote may be cliche, but the message is important. We fail as a team, we learn, and we update our processes to ensure mistakes are not repeated. Every time something doesnt go to plan or we make a mistake, we become a stronger team and a stronger business.

It’s easy to say we’re a team when everything goes well. It matters more that we act like one when it doesn’t.

Spending time with a great community

This month we sponsored and attended the AUNZ MICE Club event at the Ritz Carlton in Melbourne. The first Melbourne event for this new industry initiative.

It is great to be part of this vibrant community of event professionals and it was a fantastic day. A great venue, good food, and a room full of friendly people keen just to hang out with people in our industry.

Pri Mills has really landed on something that our industry was looking for, and her passion and energy continue to make it a great success. We are looking forward to being part of events to come.

That’s enough from me for this month.

As always, if you need help with an upcoming event, want some free advice or simply want to talk through an idea, give us a call or reply directly to this email. It will land in my inbox.

Kind Regards,
